

Jenna Brixius is a dedicated educator, certified Alexander Technique teacher, and music lesson studio director. She enjoys teaching her students how to creatively explore the principles underlying resonant tone, movement, and virtuosity. As a flutist, she has performed with the Palm Beach Symphony, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Wind Symphony. She performs in freelance ensembles in New York City and South Florida with memorable freelance performances including the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses Orchestra and a special chamber orchestra concert accompanying the legendary Stevie Wonder.

​Jenna is music faculty at Mannes School of Music's Preparatory Program (Mannes Prep) teaching Alexander Technique classes with over a decade of experience directing students in grades K-12 in instrumental technique classes, chamber ensembles, and woodwind sectionals as an Artist-in-Residence in music programs across the country. She has presented at the Florida Flute Association convention, as well as adjudicated for the Texas Music Educator Association, New York Flute Club, and the Florida Bandmasters Association. Jenna has also been delighted to lead story telling based music composition and movement classes for Pre-K through 2nd grade young learners with the Little Orchestra Society.
As an Alexander Technique teacher, Jenna's pedagogy guides her students towards an inspired understanding of how to access their freedom of movement and expression. Jenna teaches the technique in lessons and workshops for individuals of all backgrounds, classes and workshops for musicians at Mannes Prep in NYC and Kerr High School in Houston, and virtual classes and presentations. She is an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher, graduating from the Balance Arts Center's 1600 hour teacher training program. She additionally completed an Alexander Technique teaching internship for string players at the Meadowmount School of Music.
Flute studio alumni have been accepted into dynamic programs, ensembles and competitions, including collegiate flute studios at Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, University of Michigan, the Hartt School of Music, the University of Georgia - Athens, Florida State University, University of Iowa, Florida All-State Bands (FBA), All-National Band (NAfME), Florida Flute Association's High School Young Artist Competition, and the New World Symphony's Side-by-Side Orchestra. Her students have been invited to attend award-winning music programs, including the New World School of the Arts High, Bak Middle School of the Arts, and A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.
Jenna received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestre de Paris. She also studied with Eva Amsler, Walfrid Kujala, and Kathleen Chastain.
