Jenna Brixius is a flutist, educator, and flute studio director.  A passionate educator, Jenna directs her private flute studio and teaches classes on the technical principles underlying virtuosity, breathing, and musical expression. She divides her time between NYC and Palm Beach County, teaching both in-person and remote sessions.  She has performed with the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, the Palm Beach Symphony, the Florida Wind Symphony, and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.  She is also delighted to lead composition classes as a teaching artist with the Little Orchestra Society in New York City.

She founded the Summer Flute Week Camp in 2015 and co-directed the Foundations for Flute Education Pedagogy Clinic in 2020.  Jenna has taught as Artist-in-Residence and Clinician in music programs, including Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Dillard Center for the Arts, Jupiter High School, Christa McAuliffe Middle, Wellington High, the Oxbridge Academy, and elementary programs. She directed orchestral woodwind sectionals and the woodwind chamber ensemble with the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County (YOPBC) for several seasons, and she teaches summer flute classes at the Palm Beach County Band Camp (PBCBC).

Her students have been accepted into competitive programs across the USA, including All-State Bands, premiere Conservatories and Schools of Music (Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, University of Michigan, Florida State University), NAfME's All-National Band, and the New World Symphony Side-by-Side Orchestras. Jenna integrates Alexander Technique (AT) principles into her pedagogy as a means of teaching her students how to access their freedom of creative musical expression.

Jenna has taught at the Querflöte Musikkurswochen in Switzerland, and she completed a teaching internship at the acclaimed Meadowmount School of Music in upstate New York where she introduced the principles of the Alexander Technique to virtuosic young string players.  She has presented at the Florida Flute Association's Convention, in addition to serving as a judge for their Senior Honors Flute Choir competition.

Jenna received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestre de Paris.  She has also studied with Eva Amsler, Walfrid Kujala, and Kathleen Chastain. She has also performed in masterclasses for Amy Porter, Molly Barth and Alexa Still.
