Jenna Brixius is a flutist, educator, and studio director that divides her time between NYC and Palm Beach County, Florida.  She has performed with the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, the Palm Beach Symphony, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Wind Symphony.

A passionate educator, Jenna directs her private flute studio and teaches youth workshops on the principles of breathing, technique, and musical expression. She is also delighted to lead composition classes for elementary students as a teaching artist with the Little Orchestra Society in New York City.

She founded the Summer Flute Week Camp in 2015 and co-directed the Foundations for Flute Education Pedagogy Clinic in 2020.  Jenna has taught as Artist-in-Residence and Clinician at award winning music programs, including Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Dillard Center for the Arts, Park Vista High, Jupiter High, Christa McAuliffe Middle, the Oxbridge Academy, and several elementary programs. For several seasons, she directed orchestral woodwind sectionals and the woodwind chamber ensemble with the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County (YOPBC).

A student of the Alexander Technique (AT) for over a decade, Jenna integrates AT principles into her pedagogy as a means of teaching her students how to access their freedom of musical expression. As a result, her students have been accepted into competitive programs across the USA, including All-State Bands, leading Conservatories and Schools of Music (Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, University of Michigan, Florida State University), NAfME's All-National Band, and the New World Symphony Side-by-Side Orchestras.

Jenna has taught at the Querflöte Musikkurswochen in Switzerland, and she completed a teaching internship at the acclaimed Meadowmount School of Music in upstate New York where she introduced the principles of the Alexander Technique to virtuosic young string players.  She has presented at the Florida Flute Association's Convention, in addition to serving as a judge for their Senior Honors Flute Choir competition.

Jenna received her Bachelor of Music in flute performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestre de Paris.  She has also studied with Eva Amsler, Walfrid Kujala, and Kathleen Chastain.  Masterclass performances include sessions with Amy Porter, Stephen Preston, Molly Barth and Alexa Still.
